The PADI Rescue Diver course is probably one of the most fun of all the PADI Courses, here at Real Divers we make it seriously fun.

In most sports the more you play or get involved the more experienced you become and sooner or later you probably will see an accident. As a diver and especially if you dive regularly there is a chance you will see problems occur but you don’t really know what to do about them. After an accident, most people think “I wish there was something I could have done to help or prevent the accident”.

A lot of divers over the years have asked us “when should I become a PADI Rescue Diver? The answer is? if you are a PADI Advanced diver and you’re feeling confident with your normal diving skills and would like to learn more. Another question is: “Am I either too old? or am I strong enough to do the course?” On the PADI Rescue Diver course you do have to be semi-fit but the majority of the exercises are brain versus brawn, which is fun to see as there is no real correct way to do a rescue and that’s the reason why the rescue objectives are very flexible.

On the course you will learn about readiness and anticipation of the Rescue diver! if you can stop an accident before it happens that’s the best rescue you can do. You will also train for self rescues and then how to look after and help another diver in need of assistance.

There are 2 main parts of the Rescue Diver course
  • Knowledge development
  • Ocean Training

Knowledge Development

When you sign up for your course we will send you the PADI Rescue Diver elearning . The elearning has videos and diagrams with quizzes as you go to help you attain the knowledge.

The exam is also done online so when you turn up to the dive center there is just the in water training to complete.

You’re Instructor will demostrate these skills first and then when you’ve mastered all the skills on the course it’s time for the “serious” fun, the rescue diver course scenarios.

The two scenarios are “panicked diver and missing diver” which you will be briefed about in class by your PADI Instructor and have mastered all the skills in the open water. Now all you have to do is the practical side of managing the scenarios in the open water and putting everything you have learnt into the scenarios. This section of diver training is one that many divers specify as the most rewarding part of their PADI Diver course.
